  How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film?  There were only two titles which were the companies: WarnerMediaCompany and Syncopy. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  The opening sequence shows a panning shots of the cinema and the people and multiple zooming shots. It also shows a man outside in a car as he is inspecting something as if he is waiting for something to happen in the cinema. There are no opening credits. What connotations do the images carry?  The shots of the people and the zooming shot of the man in his car outside suggest show that something bad is about to happen to the mass amount of people. How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset?  The genre of this movie is science fiction/action which is expressed from the use of a lot of advanced  technology and in the beginning scenes there are intruders with guns and bombs that rush inside of the cinema.   In the 2013 film “Agent Carter”, directed by Louis D’Esposito, it embraces many diverse camera angles and camera shots. In the first scene, Captain America appears in the shot while operating a plane. The first few seconds is a close up shot of him which then cuts to a close up of the character Peggy Carter. In this shot, there is an example of mise-en-scene as the setting is Peggy sitting alone in a dim room caused by lowkey lighting. The lowkey lighting is used to set a dramatic and emotional tone. The camera then cuts back to Captain America. He is seen putting a picture of Peggy on the dashboard of the plane while there is emotional non-diegetic sound playing. The use of this music impacts the scene as it makes the audience believe that in a couple of seconds, Captain America is going to die from a plane crash.   The movie I chose for the mise-en-scene is 2008 movie starring Liam Neeson in Taken. The movie begins with high key lighting footage of Maggie Grace’s character, Kim, as a five-year-old girl celebrating her birthday. Soon after that scene, it cuts to Liam Neeson’s character Bryan Mills as he wakes up alone in his living room from a dream that turns out to be a flashback of his daughter’s birthday. The sudden change from high-key lighting to low-key lighting shows the audience that something sad has happened to Bryan. The dark lighting changes the viewers emotions so that they feel what Bryan is expressing which is depression, exhaustion, and loneliness which is represented by him sitting alone in an empty living room. After the first couple of scenes, Bryan shows up to his daughters’ birthday as she is much older now.     1.  Music: I added music for most of the video because I filmed at a park so I chose a song that          has a calm and upbeat sound which is technically a non-diegetic sound since I filmed it on my      phone before hand. The music sets a playful or mischievous feeling which when you think of a park you think of playful and sneaky kids. 2.  Sound bridge: I used music in the first half then when the video transitioned into the second I used a sound effect to indicate the transition from the picture to real life. The sound makes it seem magical as if I magically appeared at a park. 4.  Non-diegetic: For the second part of my symbolism video I used a sound of kids playing because without it, the video would seem off so with the background noise so when watching the clip it makes you feel like you are really at a park.           3.
