Initial Storyboard

Image
Description : For my movie, I wanted to create a sci-fi/thriller. I looked up some sci-fi movies and I got inspiration from Tenet. In the film, I will have an undercover spy who is on a mission and turns out to be a stalker. The "stalker" is supposed to seem friendly in the beginning and will ask to use the phone. Once they get the phone they will leave a secret message and then delete it. After the message they will engage in a short conversation and soon start to act creepy.  Camera Angles/Transitions : There will mostly be close ups and waist level shots. For the transitions there is only one where it cuts to the screen of a text message. It was not in my storyboard since it was added later on. The transitions will also be cuts between different angles as well. There will probably be a use of wide shots.  Text: The title and the credits will be like a typewriter. The graphics will be science fiction based and influenced. It will be in bold. Audio/music: There will ...

Movie Opener Brainstorming & Research

Rise ·        This was filmed well. They used a lot of clean transitions and editing. The ending was a little confusing but, overall if this were filmed with an actual camera and maybe a tripod, it would be perfect. Assuming it was shot on a phone, they did amazing. Offline ·        The music sets a nice, unsettling tone throughout the video and the use of different shots and angles is really appealing. This was a good video but, it could have been a little longer and more of a storyline. Dear Lover ·        This was very nice. It was good that she credited the song in the beginning. The use of voice over and the b roll was a nice touch. The acting was very good as well and the ending was like a cliff hanger. Dare to Thrill ·        The beginning was confusing, and the music was a little too loud. There could have been more lighting in the beginnin...

Semester Exam - Film Opening Analysis of Black Mirror (season 3, episode 4, San Junipero)

In the opening scenes of the episode, the screen displays a text that says “San Junipero”. The use of this editing technique is to let the audience known where this episode takes place. As soon as the text goes away, the establishing shot of the city transitions into a high angled followed by a medium angled tracking shot of a blue car. There was a lot of mise en scene used such as the model of the car, the clothing, and the sets. All those examples are there to help describe the era to the audience so that they know it takes place in the eighties. After someone gets out of the car, the camera moves into a panning wide shot of the main character walking also known as Yorkie. As the character stops and looks at the television through the window, there is an offscreen sound from a guy and a girl and their conversation. This suggests at the audience that they may be important to the story later. After the camera transitions to a head on shot of the two, it cuts to an over the should...

Film Opening Research #2- Jupiter Ascending

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Three: Warner Bros. Pictures, Village Roadshow Pictures, and Jupiter Ascending   What images are prioritized in the opening sequence? The first opening scenes of this movie are stars in the sky at night and a man looking at through a telescope. A woman then comes up to the man to ask him about what he is doing. There are no opening credits.   What connotations do the images carry? The image of the stars tells the audience that outer space or the stars are going to be important later in the movie. It also suggests that the activity the man is doing was not common.   How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? The genre of this movie is science fiction/action. The main character is named after the planet Jupiter which is already a hint towards the audience that outer space and Jupiter may be very important to the main character or the story. Aft...
