Master edits in film

These clips are from the 2018 horror/thriller move known as Bird Box 

This scene is what I chose for symbolism because Tom(Trevante Rhodes) and Malorie(Sandra Bullock) were together and Tom asked to feel Malorie's stomach because she was pregnant at the time and when the camera zooms in on their hands together, there is a transition to Malorie and the kids on the boat years later and the camera was focused on the hands of the kids as they were on top of each other like Tom and Malorie. 

This scene is for contrast because at first it shows Malorie years after the entity broke out and she had her baby already. She is seen in the boat as very stressed out while trying to contact someone then there is a transition to Malorie just a couple of years before. She is seen here trying to contact someone as well but in a calm manner. She was also pregnant before so that is also the contrast. This is definiton of contrast because it shows different emotions, times, and locations of the same character doing the same thing.

 The last scene I chose was for simultaneity. In this scene Malorie is trying to escape the entity and find her way back to the boat with the kids while the girl is getting out of the boat to Malorie. This scene can be used as parallelism as well because both characters are going towards each other and it can be used as contrast because while there is dramatic music and rushed motions from Malorie’s running it cuts to the girls calm movements as she tries to find her way around. This clip shows simultaneity because it shows a change of things that are happening as they happen at the same time.
